Install Windows 7 From Flash/Pen Drive
If you have an image of Windows 7 and your DVD-ROM is not working (mainly in Laptops) then there is only one solution to install Windows 7 is through flash or pen drive. Follow the steps below and be sure that the commands you are using are exactly same as mentioned below. If you type wrong command then you will destroy your Hard Drive.
Follow the steps bellow:-
1. Mount the Windows 7 image using virtual drive software.
2. Plug in the pen drive.
3. Open cmd in administrator mode
Right click on cmd icon and click run as administrator .
4. type DISKPART
5. LIST DISK
This will list disk drives of the computer. Both your hard disk and pen drive.
Disk ### Status Size Free Dyn Gpt
Disk 0 Online 407 GB 1024 KB
Disk 1 Online 3824 MB 0 K
Here disk 0 is my hard disk as the size is so much larger that the pen drive and disk 1 is my pen drive 4GB = 3824 MB aproxx . We have to make this pen drive bootable first so that it can install windows 7.
6. SELECT DISK 1
7. CLEAN
8. CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
9. SELECT PARTITION=1 or SELECT PARTITION 1
10.FORMAT FS=NTFS
To perform quick format FORMAT FS=NTSF QUICK
and hit enter.
11. ASSIGN
12. EXIT
Don't close cmd.
Next .
If your virtual drive letter is F: on which Windows 7 image is mounted then
13.C:\> F:
14. C:\>cd boot
15. C:\boot>bootsect.exe nt60 l: here l: is the drive letter of pen drive
A message shown : Boot sector is written successfully....
Now close cmd and copy the windows 7 files to the pen drive.
Now pen drive is ready to install windows 7. Restart your PC open bios settings and change boot priority to USB save and restart.
Now windows start loading file from pen drive. And windows is installed much faster than from the DVD.
